Administrative Assistant, Fish Conservation

LOCATION: Washington, DC
DEPARTMENT: Fish Conservation Program
REPORTS TO: Director, Fish Conservation Program
DURATION: Full-time

Learn More About the Position:
This position provides administrative and project support to the Director of the Fish Conservation Program (FCP) and other FCP staff. The Administrative Assistant coordinates and monitors team operations and supports Ocean Conservancy’s fish conservation work.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Provides project and administrative support for Senior Fisheries  and other staff, including organizing and coordinating activities, monitoring deadlines and project checkpoints, creating and maintaining files, editing and proofreading documents, drafting correspondence, faxing and copying, mailing and fulfillment, and coordinating with staff in Washington, DC and other regions.
  • Provides logistical support for the Director and other FCP staff including travel arrangements,   meeting/appointment planning, and calendar management.
  • Carries out project assignments by conducting research, gathering and analyzing information, preparing presentations and other materials for internal and external audiences, and organizing and
    attending events and meetings for the FCP team.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two years’ administrative experience staffing a multi-disciplinary team with experience in public policy and nonprofit organizations preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; the ability to understand and articulate complex issues.
  • A team player who can bring the creativity, energy, discipline and commitment needed to support the organization’s fishery conservation goals.
  • A strong performer who is attentive to details but can keep a larger vision in mind, is disciplined in adhering to deadlines and can produce deliverables in a timely, accurate manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated success in supporting a team.
  • Highly collaborative with an appreciation of the benefit of a multi-disciplinary team approach.
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences or policy or relevant work experience preferred
