The actions unit is responsible for the planning, co-ordination and execution of non-violent direct actions in Australia and the Pacific region, which are an integral part of Greenpeace’s overall organisational, campaign and communications strategy.

The Activist Coordinator is responsible for developing and maintaining the Greenpeace Australia Pacific activist network. The position will ensure the availability of a pool of highly motivated, trained, reliable and responsible activists throughout the region, ready and able to deliver planned campaign work. The Activist Coordinator is also responsible for coordinating the scheduling of the annual training program within the actions unit and the delivery of the Basic Action Training program that is a prerequisite for all activists participating in any Greenpeace direct actions.

Main responsibilities

  • Actively engage and mobilise activists to deliver GPAP objectives
  • Develop and coordinate an engagement program to attract new activists to join the Activist Network
  • Lead the development and delivery of the Basic Action Training program
  • Coordinate with other trainers within the Actions Unit to support the delivery of specialist skills training for activists
