Description

CDP is seeking a highly-motivated, meticulous individual with excellent communication skills to support relationships with CDP Reporter Services member companies in North America. Reporter Services is a program within CDP that provides dedicated support to a subgroup of responding companies, helping them build internal expertise with regard to managing issues related to climate change.

The Account Manager will have an opportunity to contribute significantly to the future development and implementation of Reporter Services.

Main responsibilities

On a day-to-day basis, this includes supporting member companies in 1) improving their CDP disclosure and 2) utilizing CDP data to benchmark against their peers and learn best practices. The successful candidate will deliver exceptional account management support for corporate contacts at a range of seniority levels and with diverse needs and expectations.

  • Presenting benefits to individual members and establishing objectives for deliverables to ensure that members receive maximum value from their benefits
  • Providing incoming and outgoing phone and email support for members regarding: o the CDP questionnaire and scoring process o use of CDP data for benchmarking and identifying best practices
  • Developing and explaining technical documents that support members in understanding the CDP questionnaire and scoring process in relation to their company response
  • Securing member renewals and processing related paperwork
  • Selling membership to non-members (this would not be an immediate responsibility, but may be incorporated into the role within a few months of employment)
  • Designing and leading online training webinars for sizable groups on technical issues
  • Managing logistics of on-line and in-person member events
  • Creating custom reports for members from an existing online tool that stores CDP responses
  • Participating in and supporting the development of a new and/or improved tool that stores CDP responses
  • Collecting case study information on members and actively participating in case study development
  • Collecting and analyzing member feedback through discussions, and utilizing that feedback to improve services
  • Maintaining an internal database of members and relevant details, and adding new members to database as they sign on for benefits
  • Documenting all support activity, and tracking delivery of member benefits
  • Assisting with other projects as needed

Main requirements

Attention to detail and the highest-level of organization are fundamental to this role, as is the ability to understand member needs, identify opportunities, and act on this information.

  • A university degree in a related subject
  • At least two years of work experience
  • Experience in or a good understanding of corporate sustainability and/or carbon management
  • Confidence in speaking about the business implications represented by climate change
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Superior writing skills and grammar: must be able to communicate technical information in a concise, yet comprehensive manner, and must actively proofread all external communication (including emails)
  • Project management experience
  • The desire to take ownership and responsibility for particular areas of work
  • The ability to train on web-based platforms to an expert level
  • Analytic skills, including an expertise in Microsoft Excel
  • The ability to spot trends and opportunities as well as focus on details
  • The desire and ability to improve and streamline processes to better and more efficiently achieve program goals, rather than follow the status quo
  • The ability to meet deadlines under pressure
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work independently

The position is based in CDP’s New York City office and will report to CDP’s Manager for Reporter Services, North America. The Account Manager will be expected to work full-time (8 hours per day, 5 days per week) and must be able to work legally in the US. The anticipated start date is April 1, 2013, and the position is subject to a three-month trial period.
