POST: Access and Engagement Support Officer

MAIN DUTIES

  • Support the accurate recording, analysis and reporting of progress and monitoring information against funding allocation for specific projects, including (at present) the RoWIP and Coastal Access Improvement Programmes, including adherence to financial procedures..
  • Help manage grants, finances and related procedures, ensuring the efficient and effective use of budgets for specific projects and programmes, including (at present) the RoWIP and Coastal Access Improvement Programmes as well as for other grants led within the People and Places group.
  • For specific programmes, including (at present) the RoWIP and Coastal Access Improvement Programme, carry out appropriate financial and authorisation checks ensuring the quality and content of applications and compliance with standards; and check offer letters in accordance with procedures.
  • Act as a point of contact with internal and external customers on grant and finance related queries for the People and Places group, including those associated with specific programmes such as (at present) the RoWIP and Coastal Access Improvement Programme.
  • Help to effectively maintain grant partner information and records, including for specific programmes suchas the RoWIP and Coastal Access Improvement programme.
  • Support the general administration of specific programmes, including (at present) RoWIP and Coastal Access Improvement Programmes as well as other access and engagement work as necessary.
  • Provide support for co-ordination, delivery and evaluation of projects and activities including (at present) the RoWIP and CAIP,, eg by helping to organise seminars, conferences, launches and workshops, contributing to research activity and by helping to develop resources that help people enjoy, learn about and become involved with the natural environment.
  • Comply with corporate standards and guidelines and behave in accordance with.CCW’s corporate values, striving to meet internal and external customer service expectations at all times
  • Take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and others and comply with all health and safety legislation as appropriate.
  • Carry out other general duties as necessary.

JOB COMPETENCIES

To be considered for this post you will need to demonstrate the following essential competencies:

Essential

  1. Excellent knowledge of financial systems and procedures and their practical application and a very good understanding of corporate planning, budgetary and grant processes.
  2. Good IT skills, including proficiency in the use and application of spreadsheets for recording, analysing and reporting financial information and other numerical data.
  3. Good understanding of project management and the ability to manage work that is spread over a large number of teams.
  4. Excellent ability to identify issues arising in the administration of financial and grants matters.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and an ability to work well with other people both within CCW and in external organisations and communities..
  6. High ability to work quickly and efficiently to meet demanding targets and work to tight deadlines under pressure.
  7. Excellent arithmetical ability, numeracy and accuracy along with organisational and administration skills, including report writing
  8. Ability to undertake monitoring and evaluation work
    - The ability to communicate with confidence in Welsh in some work situations

Desirable

9. Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (eg MapInfo).

10. Skills and experience in audience engagement work such as facilitation, marketing and promotion, digital communication
- Fluency in spoken Welsh.

SALARY

The starting salary will be £19,679.00 a year.

STATUS

This is a fixed-term, pensionable full time appointment of 37 hours a week to cover the maternity leave of the post holder. This is currently expected to last until 27 September 2013 but may end earlier or later depending on when the post holder returns.

A single Environment Body for Wales is expected to come into being on 1 April 2013. Staff who are employed by Countryside Council for Wales immediately before that date are likely to be transferred to the new body.
