Description

Sustainability Services sits within Audit Advisory, one of the fastest growing areas of the firm. Our team helps clients to realise opportunities and manage sustainability related business risks.

The team provides assurance and advisory services to a wide range of high profile clients on responsible business strategy, governance, communications and reporting. We also provide climate change and carbon management services including climate adaptation, carbon footprinting and strategy, helping reduce exposure to rising energy prices and costs and respond to stakeholder expectations.

What will I be doing?

We expect our graduates to deliver high quality work products while establishing enduring relationships with clients from the start. You will typically operate in small teams although occasionally you will need to be comfortable working individually - always with the support of a manager or senior. Engagements can last from a day, or require sustained effort over several months.

You will be able to steer your career into the industry of most interest to you, whether it be; financial services, consumer business, technology, media or telecoms, public sector or manufacturing. Many of people enjoy the variety of working in different industries and work on a portfolio of clients from across industry sectors. Your work may also involve travel overseas.

A brief snap shot of the typical work areas are:

    • Responsible business corporate strategy - helping our clients to design a sustainability strategy that aligns with wider business goals. Services include business case and scenario planning, gap analysis and benchmarking, strategy design, governance and innovation.
    • Operational integration and implementation - helping our clients to embed sustainability as part of everyday business. Services include sustainability strategy deployment, behavioural change management, transaction support, procurement and supply chain management, life cycle analysis, certification, health and safety advisory, water footprinting and labelling and waste management.
    • Reporting and assurance - an increasing number of organisations are reporting on their sustainability programs. Our services in this area include stakeholder engagement and communication planning, data capture and measurement, disclosure and reporting advisory, internal audit and external assurance.
    • Climate change and carbon management - Businesses have now realised that the low carbon economy is not something to be shied away from, but rather an opportunity to embrace. We offer a full range of climate change and carbon management services that include: climate risk and adaptation planning; carbon strategy; carbon accounting, assurance and Carbon Reduction Commitment compliance; carbon footprinting and reduction; and carbon markets and offsets.
Training and Career Progression

To equip you with the necessary skills to perform the job, you will attend our firm-wide graduate induction programme. This will introduce you to Deloitte, the specific types of challenges our clients face and help you start to develop your practical and technical skills.

You will have the opportunity to study for the Associate Chartered Accountancy exams (ACA). As part of the wider team, you’ll continuously develop your technical capabilities, management and leaderships skills and receive full support from the dedicated learning team for your individual development. Your development will comprise of both on the job learning and structured classroom led training.

What we are looking for?

Career progression is rapid and actively encouraged, with responsibility given very early on. Within two years of joining, you can expect to have future graduates working for you on some projects and you will have to delegate and manage their workload as well as your own. You will very quickly gain the skills and experience you need to supervise other people in the team.

We are interested in graduates from a wide variety of backgrounds and degree disciplines.

You will need to demonstrate strong communication skills, excellent numerical skills, analysis skills and have a structured approach to problem solving. Being ambitious, creative, tenacious and entrepreneurial, will serve you well as you seek to develop your capabilities in the different areas of this growing practice.
