Are you passionate about sustainable communities, neighborhood development, sprawl issues, and smart growth? Then consider an internship finding web-based news items to populate the nation's leading smart growth website: www.smartgrowth.org. The nonprofit National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT) is looking for a qualified student to work in its Butte, Montana office. The candidate will be responsible for finding regional and national news items on the internet to upload to the leading smart growth website in the United States: www.smartgrowth.org.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have good communication skills and be interested in smart growth issues and terminology, neighborhood development, sustainable community planning, and zoning and policy issues. You should have excellent internet web search skills, and be able to find intriguing and unusual national and international news stories of interest to those involved in smart growth planning. You will also need to have excellent writing skills in order to write interesting news summaries from the news stories researched. The successful student will also be able to interact with the public and NCAT staff in a professional manner.

2010 Smart Growth Internship

Opportunities

The intern will work with NCAT's professional staff developing information for distribution on a national website. NCAT will work with the qualified student to develop a schedule that will meet the intern's academic schedule and needs for gaining work experience.

Compensation

$10.00 per hour. Approximately 10 hours a week.
