2 x Board Members for Natural England, job reference PAPPT 132/11 & 133/11

Formed on 1 October 2006, Natural England is the Government’s statutory advisor on the natural environment in England. Our purpose is to ensure that the natural environment is conserved, enhanced, and managed for the benefit of present and future generations, thereby contributing to sustainable development.

As a Board Member, you will ensure that Natural England fulfils its aims and objectives set by the Secretary of State. You’ll have the chance to help establish our strategy, approve its direction, and review the performance of the organisation. Your commitment will be 37 days per year, including up to six Board meetings held mainly in our headquarters in Sheffield.

The level of remuneration is expected to be £12,136 per annum, on the basis of a time commitment of 37 days per annum. Reasonable travel expenses are also paid.

The requirements: Post 1, job reference PAPPT 132/11

You will be a proven academic in an area relevant to our work, such as environmental science or countryside management. Able to act as Chair of the Natural England Science Advisory Committee, a sub-committee of the board, you will develop our reputation as a highly respected scientific adviser to government, civil society, and local communities.

The requirements: Post 2, job reference PAPPT 133/11

We’re looking for a farmer, manager, or owner of agricultural land who can offer a genuine customer perspective. Known and respected across the agricultural sector, you will be an enthusiast for rural issues with a strong awareness of how land management issues affect the natural environment.
