Now in its 16th year, this event continues to attract the most authoritative experts in the area of biosolids and organic resource handling, treatment and recycling.   Proceedings from previous events now form a reference point to trace the development of many mainstream processes from concept to full-scale operation. It also provides a legislatory update which not only outlines how existing regulations are being interpreted and applied, but also provides an early warning sign of potential future legislation which may impact on our existing recycling opportunities.

The event is an opportunity to meet many of the most recognised names in biosolids handling, as well as listen to presentations from younger practitioners who are following in their footsteps.  It provides three days of in-depth discussions set in an informal environment with a wealth of social and networking opportunities.  But the event is only as good as the papers that are presented and the organisers rely on the submission of high quality papers to put together a high quality event.  We are inviting papers on all aspects of biosolids, including updates on technologies and issues associated with biodegradable organic wastes. As anaerobic digestion enters the mainstream as a technology for landfill diversion with energy recovery we will also be focussing on a number of areas around this technology that will be of increasing importance.  Successful technical sessions from previous events have included:

  • Sludge conditioning and novel conditioners
  • Advances in thickening and dewatering technologies
  • Dewatering liquor treatment and resource recovery
  • Advanced digestion processes for enhancing energy recovery
  • Energy from sludge
  • Sludge rheology and its impact on downstream processing
  • Future trends in anaerobic digestion – methane, hydrogen and solvents
  • The future of co-digestion and the implications of the OFT study
  • Optimising biomethane usage
  • The likely impact of the RHI and novel technologies for heat recovery
  • Digestate recycling routes and new opportunities for adding value to digestate
  • What is on the horizon, the view from OFWAT, EU and the regulators

We are particularly keen to encourage submissions from younger practitioners and those new to the biosolids arena.
