Position Overview:

Real Goods Solar is looking for a talented VP of Marketing to take the lead in driving our corporate positioning and brand marketing strategy. He/she will work closely with our senior management team to define our value proposition and implement competitive marketing plans that will help drive our business. He/she will develop print, advertising, PR, events, on-line, and social media programs, as well as provide research and competitive analysis to identify market opportunities focusing on profitability objectives.

The VP of Marketing will direct and manage the internal marketing team to ensure that key objectives are identified and executed. This position reports directly to the President.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct strategy and manage the implementation of marketing programs to achieve best-in-class marketing initiatives across all regions
  • Provide solid leadership and mentoring to the internal marketing team
  • Execute integrated lead generation strategies including search engine marketing, social media, public relations, tradeshows and other programs to achieve strong lead generation results
  • Develop and manage marketing budget with an eye toward cost containment and efficiency
  • Leverage ongoing internal marketing efforts including Retail, eCommerce and Solar Living Center in marketing strategies
  • Maintain knowledge of marketing trends, developments, and best practices in industry

Requirements:

  • A passion for renewable energy
  • 12+ years experience in marketing to B2B and B2C enterprises
  • Minimum 10+ years experience in marketing management. Strong knowledge of marketing strategies and best practices
  • Excellent project management, analytical and performance measurement skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under deadlines and pressure, detail-oriented, able to work independently
  • Strong problem-solver
  • Proven ability to identify, investigate, and act on opportunities to improve business performance
  • Knowledge of sales force automation and lead management systems
  • Collaborative working style with ability to develop strong relationships with all levels of employees
  • Optimistic, "can do" attitude
  • College degree, MBA preferred
