Description

 

Primary Purpose of Position:  Work with the Director Corporate Partnerships, Marketing & Licensing, development staff, program staff and board members to meet annual revenue goals for corporate fundraising program, which includes corporate philanthropy, cause-related marketing, product licensing, and special event sponsorships.

Essential Functions:

  1. Grow revenue from NPCA’s corporate fundraising program.  Under supervision of the Director Corporate Partnerships, Marketing & Licensing, additional responsibilities include devising strategy, establishing revenue goals, identifying new prospects, developing and implementing cultivation and solicitation plans for corporate prospects, negotiating with and stewarding corporate donors. Monitor corporate revenue, provide analysis, and prepare reports as needed.  Design and deliver professional presentations to corporate representatives; negotiate relationships and contracts.

  1. Work with NPCA executive leadership, program staff, board and national council, and high-level volunteers to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward corporate prospects for the purpose of raising corporate funds through cause marketing, corporate sponsorships for events & corporate philanthropy. 
  1. Oversee a select number of corporate partnerships and ensure fulfillment of contractual obligations and administrative needs.  Includes but not limited to managing advertising in NPCA magazine, email and other electronic outreach, social media campaigns, website presence, promotional campaigns, programmatic elements, billing, etc.

  1. Secure corporate sponsorships for NPCA’s annual dinner.  Work with Director Corporate Partnerships, Marketing & Licensing, Development staff, and high-level volunteers to devise and implement a fundraising strategy.  Manage cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of corporate donors: create solicitation materials, make presentations to companies, manage corporate cultivation events, organize possible Leadership Committee meetings/events, prepare solicitation and invitation lists, and oversee solicitation and follow up to secure corporate support.
  1. Manage corporate website pages and other special projects and administrative duties as assigned.

Other Functions: Relate confidently to peers and supervisors in the Development Department, to program staff and others throughout the organization, and to high-level C&F supporters/prospects.  Participate in organization-wide meetings, staff meetings, training programs, and attend other meetings and seminars as designated by the supervisor.  Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of NPCA programs and work with program and field staff to understand and describe conservation programs.  Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of corporations that fund environment and conservation programs.  Promote policies that are sensitive to the needs of a diverse workforce. Work Schedule:  8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday.  Some nights and weekends may be required.  Some travel may be required (approximately 10% time).   

Scope of Position:  This position requires the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of NPCA staff, including executive team members, board and national council members, both in the Washington, DC office and regional offices.  Requires contact with corporate supporters and prospects, and other NPCA members and supporters.

Minimum Qualifications, Competencies, Skills, Education, and Traits:

• Four-year college degree.
• Three to five years of experience in nonprofit development fundraising.  Corporate fundraising or corporate philanthropy experience preferred. 
• Candidates must demonstrate a successful record of fund-raising accomplishments.
• Strong verbal skills, fluent writing skills, and experience in writing and editing solicitation materials.  Attention to detail.
• Experience meeting goals in a bottom-line oriented environment.
• Experience working with high-level volunteers and executives.
• Ability to make effective in-person presentations to corporate officials.
• Ability to prepare detailed budgets and make revenue forecasts.
• Ability to work cooperatively with a range of individuals.
• Ability to work on several projects at the same time and shift priorities as needed.
• Familiarity with spreadsheet, word processing, and other software.
• Creative, energetic, outgoing strategic thinker.
• Passion for national parks, conservation and the environment.
