Recycling Participation Monitor / Promoter / Team Leader

RECYCLING PARTICIPATION MONITOR/ RECYCLING PROMOTER /TEAM LEADER: HIGH WYCOMBE/CHESHAM, BUCKINGHAMSHIRE

The Joint Waste Team is working with EnviroComms to carry out a recycling communications campaign in March 2015. The project entails participation monitoring and the distribution of printed material on local recycling services. The Joint Waste Team is seeking to focus on approximately 12,300 properties to reduce contamination levels and to increase recycling participation across its garden waste and dry recycling collection services.

Objectives of the project are:

• To temporarily increase resources to address contamination issues in garden waste recycling, dry recycling and food waste recycling;
• Obtain a snapshot of recycling participation and contamination rates
• To provide vital printed recycling information to ensure they understand the recycling services;
• To reduce contamination rates and increase recycling rates.

We are looking to recruit a team of people to capture contamination data / recycling participation and to assist with the distribution of various printed material.

Responsibilities include:

• Monitoring and record keeping
• Providing relevant printed information including identifying barriers and offering advice about recycling services
• Applying appropriate signage to garden waste and recycling bins

Personal specification

No experience in this field is necessary as full training will be provided although you should possess the following:

• Ability and willingness to engage confidently with members of the public in a clear and assertive manner
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work well as part of a team to meet performance targets
• Keen interest in waste, recycling and environmental issues
• Good organisational skills
• Ability to work outside in all weather and in small teams
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekends
• Physical ability to walk long distances

For the team leader role, the following attributes will be required:

• Has access to own vehicle
• Experience of managing teams of people
• Exceptional organisational abilities
• Clean driving licence (you may be required to drive a Transit type van)

Contract type and duration

The contract is fixed, short-term running from 9th March 2015 through to 20th March 2015 with possible extension till 27th March 2015.

Hours

Monday-Friday: 6.00am to 2.00pm/8.00am to 4.00pm

Pay rate
Recycling Participation Monitor (x1), Recycling Promoter (x4):£8.00 per hour
Team Leader (x3) : £11.00 per hour
