Role Overview
I. Basic Function
As member of the international finance team the Senior Financial accountant will be responsible for monthly close, reporting and all relevant support for audits, tax and internal audit compliance. This position reports to Financial Controller based in Geneva, Switzerland. Candidates will be expected to work within a truly global team interacting with finance professionals in Europe, Asia and the United States.
II. Responsibilities and Duties
1) Responsibility for respective GL (Entities) & monthly close:
- Raise and approve all ICO transactions for respective entities - Act as main contact for ICO transactions related to respective entities - Work closely with FP&A and Corporate to ensure accuracy of monthly SG&A activities - Prepare monthly reconciliations packs and Flux analysis for Financial Controller review 2) Support the monthly consolidation process
3) Financial reporting: - Control and review of monthly financial close process, maintenance and control of GL procedure documents and close schedules - Responsible for rigorously planning and controlling GL tasks to achieve demanding internal US-lead reporting deadlines - Continuous improvement of the quality of financial reporting - both internal and external - Ongoing support and liaison with other GL’s to ensure consistency of best practices and knowledge sharing 4) Local statutory and tax audit:
- To support local statutory reporting, external and internal audits 5) Payroll:
- To support monthly payroll process, to ensure accuracy of information and compliance with local legislation - To work with HR and Controllers on improvements of payroll processes for respective entities 6) Financial Control
- Responsibility for the proactive recognition and resolution of financial control issues - Procedural reviews – work with Financial Controller to continuously improve controls and processes, and comply with SP corporate requirements 7) Participate in the Oracle implementation for respective Legal entities
8) Support Financial controller in various projects
9) Act as a back-up for other finance functions as requested by Financial Controller
III. Qualifications
• Degree in Accounting or professional qualification or equivalent • Accounting experience of at least 5 years • Knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS required • ERP experience – specifically Oracle an advantage • Good command of excel • Proactive, flexible, attention to detail • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with cross-functional and multi-national teams • Languages: English & Spanish required, French a plus
Other information: • this is a 6 months fixed term position • the position will be based in Madrid office
