Description

Position title: Conservation Leadership Programme Manager      
        
Department
: Conservation Leadership Programme (CLP), is the education, training and skills development unit within the EWT which responds to skills gaps within the environment sector. 

Purpose of the position: Managing the development and implementation of high impact training, education and mentorship programmes with the aim to preparing identified learners, students and young conservation professionals with the appropriate training, skills development and or experience to take up positions within the environment sector. 

Qualification: Bachelors or Master in Education plus 5 years programme management experience and/or relevant management qualifications. Accredited trainer qualifications and community-based project experience and appropriate qualification in the conservation and / or environmental field is advantageous.

Competencies required:

  • Experience with working with SETA’s;
  • Experience in education, training, awareness raising and skills development, mentoring and capacity building, preferably in the environmental or natural sciences field;
  • Proven project and financial management experience;
  • Understanding of environmental sector and needs regarding training and skills development;
  • Excellent report-writing skills (may be called on to produce evidence);
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Afrikaans, including public speaking;
  • Excellent people skills and approachable manner;
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office programmes;
  • Ability to collaborate with key partners and network effectively;
  • Valid SA drivers license, and suitable driving experience. A PDP is an advantage;
  • Ability to work both as a team member and independently;
  • High degree of self-motivation and pro-activity, good administrative skills and good organisation skills.

  • A passion for conservation and education.
  • Self-motivated, disciplined, and energetic.
  • Excellent communication and networking skills.
