  • Run ACCESS model to simulate atmospheric CO2 and related tracers to interpret observational records with a particular focus on Australian and Southern Ocean sites, including assessing atmospheric transport and carbon fluxes from the land-surface model (CABLE)
  • Run ACCESS model experiments to assess climate-carbon feedbacks such as those defined for the Coupled Model Intercomparison (CMIP5)

About CSIRO:

Australia is founding its future on science and innovation. Its national science agency, Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), is a powerhouse of ideas, technologies and skills for building prosperity, growth, health and sustainability. It serves governments, industries, business and communities.

This position is part of the Centre for Australian Weather and Climate Research (CAWCR), a partnership between CSIRO and the Bureau of Meteorology, which leading development of an Earth systems model known as the Australian Community Earth System Simulator (ACCESS) for application across a range of time scales from numerical weather prediction to climate change projection. The model includes atmosphere, ocean, sea ice and land-surface components, and will include an interactive carbon cycle, and eventually provide for the modelling of the interactions and feedbacks between human activities and the climate system.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders are encouraged to apply for all CSIRO positions.
