Saturday 8th March
This one-day course is aimed at everyone with an interest in the woodland environment who would like to learn more about woodland ecology and how management practices, or lack of, affect it. Will be particularly useful for those working or volunteering in woodlands although no previous knowledge is required.
Topics include habitats within woodlands, the role of animals in woodland ecology, primary and secondary succession as well as diversity of structure and species. Also discussed: what conservationists are seeking to achieve in manipulating succession, whether intervention is desirable or non-intervention better, plus types of conservation work used. Site visits require appropriate outdoor clothing and good walking boots/shoes
The course runs from 09.45 to 17.00 and price includes a free FSC guide 'Woodland Plants'.
