Description

ACRES Lao PDR is a branch of ACRES, a Singapore-based animal protection charity advocating for an end to animal cruelty in Asia.

We established the ACRES Lao Wildlife Sanctuary: the country’s first wildlife sanctuary. At the sanctuary, animals rescued from the illegal wildlife trade will be housed in naturalistic environments and given the best possible care. For several of them, after years of confinement as someone’s pet, they will be able to act like wild animals again, and interact with others of their kind.

But ultimately we aim to end the need for such a sanctuary. That’s where our Educational Outreach programmes come in. The Lao Wildlife Sanctuary has an on-site Education Centre and Auditorium, ensuring that every visitor leaves inspired to play their part in wildlife protection and animal welfare. We’ll be reaching out to children with our specially-designed education programmes, as well as the local community as a whole.

We’ll also be working with the Lao PDR government and other INGOs to tackle wildlife crime and bear farming in Lao PDR through various programmes, with the sanctuary as our base.

As we expand our work ever further, we are looking for passionate individuals with a drive to make a difference for animals to join our team.
