This role supports the production and distribution of the Wilderness Society’s online communications material with a primary focus on email and website content. The position sits within the Communications Team but works across all areas of the Wilderness Society to deliver materials and ensure the delivery of consistent messages that are tailored to specific audiences. This role plays an important part in inspiring our supporters and the wider public to engage with the work of the Wilderness Society. The Wilderness Society is an equal opportunity employer that places great importance on principles of non-violence and consensus decision-making. Roles and responsibilities1. Assist in administering, editing and sending out emails using PHPlist. 2. Monitor, edit and publish content on the Wilderness Society website. 3. Attend to web administration requests on the Web Ticket Request Queue. 4. Work with designers, web developers and representatives from Fundraising and Campaigns to coordinate the planning and production of online communications that deliver on campaign objectives. 5. Look for opportunities to increase email subscriptions/clickthroughs and drive traffic to our website. 6. Develop an understanding of the organisation’s campaigns to be able to communicate them quickly and effectively – this includes tailoring messages to relevant audiences and ensuring consistent messaging which reflects campaign and fundraising goals, and communications research findings (eg. focus groups). 7. Actively contribute to communications strategy, innovation and evaluation. Selection criteria1. A strong commitment to wilderness protection and a clear understanding of the values of the Wilderness Society. 2. A minimum of two years experience in a similar role. 3. Solid experience and knowledge of writing for email and the web. 4. Demonstrated web administration experience (using mass emailing systems and content management systems) and an understanding of basic HTML, CSS and image manipulation. 5. The ability to translate complex information and deliver messages across different communications channels (eg. email, website). 6. An active interest and demonstrated experience engaging in social media. 7. Enthusiasm, energy and creativity to produce high quality work with quick turnaround in a demanding environment.
