Description

South Cambridgeshire District and Cambridge City Councils have run a successful joint service operation since November 2016, with a single management and delivery team serving the two districts’ 116,000 homes from a single depot in Waterbeach. With a joint workforce, fleet and support functions, the fully integrated operation will deliver significant efficiencies, better customer service and commercial development opportunities for both councils.

Working from our modern Waterbeach depot, our 3 teams (Operations, Commercial, and Policy, Change and Innovation) work together to meet the needs of our customers and drive improvements in everything we do.

It is a great time to join us as we continue to change how we operate across the districts and deliver new and exciting projects.

We are now recruiting for a Waste Policy Officer to join our team.

As a senior member of the Policy, Change and Innovation team you will lead on policy strategy and development, coordinate planning advice, and develop and manage projects.

Partnership work is important, so cultivating links with wider teams in each authority, and managing external relationships and contracts are key to this role.

As Waste Policy Officer you should have a passion for recycling and waste, and have sound technical and policy knowledge, you will be a credible voice and a strong advocate for the service. You will have some supervision of projects undertaken by others in the team, so being an approachable team worker is important, and you are expected to be keen to support a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

For more information about this opportunity, the working environment and additional benefits, please contact Jane Hunt, Interim Head of Waste and Recycling on 07710 761 902

Closing date: 9am on Monday 27 March 2017
