Kier Services – Environmental work in partnership with clients to provide street cleansing, grounds maintenance, sustainable waste management and recycling services nationwide. The Role The position of Waste Doctor is an ideal opportunity for candidates with an interest in environmental issues who would like to make a real difference to recycling in Cheshire West and Chester. Waste Doctors will work as part of the Engagement team at Kier to deliver an integrated programme of face to face engagement and communications to guide, support and encourage residents to fully participate in the Recycle First service. Job Purpose To increase awareness of recycling services. Encourage recycling participation throughout West Cheshire. Reduce contamination of recycling throughout West Cheshire. Promote recycling to Residents through face-to-face communication. Collect data on participation and attitudes to recycling. Drive up overall recycling rate. Job Description To inform and educate residents about their waste services. Attend community events and road shows to promote recycling. Door stepping in areas of low participation. Carry out visits to residents struggling to use the service correctly. Assist with school and community group visits to the education centre. Liaise with Collection crews, Supervisors and Council Officers to solve problems that arise for residents and/or the waste service. Work with communities to promote responsible disposal of waste. Any other duties as deemed appropriate to the position. What Are We Looking For? You should have an interest in the environment and waste sector. Customer Service experience and Computer Literacy. Experience of promotional work/door canvassing is desirable. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to work well in a team and also unsupervised A meticulous approach to data collection and a professional attitude when dealing with Council staff and the public The ability to confidently and tactfully communicate with the public You should be hard working, self-motivated, enthusiastic, self-disciplined and a good time keeper. Ability to work flexible hours including early evenings and weekends. Own a vehicle with business cover essential for the role. Licence to tow trailer advantageous. Essential – Educated to A Level or equivalent Desirable – Environmental related degree or equivalent
