The Wakefield Green Gym is a healthy lifestyle initiative growing organic produce running three sessions a week on three community allotment sites around Wakefield. It provides safe, therapeutic and worthwhile activities for volunteers, a number of whom have learning disabilities and/or mental health issues.

There are now opportunities for Volunteer Officers to help deliver this project. As a Volunteer Officer you will receive formal training in Project Leadership, First Aid, Mini-bus driving and Safeguarding.  In addition there will be ongoing training while you lead / co-lead practical Green Gym sessions and you will be provided with supervision & training in managing volunteers, opportunities to produce publicity, help with planning and represent TCV Wakefield at different events.  Some travel expenses are payable and PPE and corporate wear is provided.

This is an excellent opportunity for anyone contemplating a career in the land based sector and/or caring. You will receive in-house training delivered by experts in this field to develop your practical skills and knowledge essential for a career within these sectors. You can rely on the support of a national organisation who has a keen interest supporting our Volunteer Officer’s individual development and progression into employment and will provide individual support with CV development.

Essential to this role are excellent communication/people skills, a strong commitment to environmental issues, a driver’s license over two years is desirable though not essential. A commitment to a minimum of three days per week for six months is normally required.
