Is creating a nature trail or installing a fence to protect habitat from herbivores your idea of fun? Do you want to gain practical experience in conservation management? If so, there are volunteer opportunities with the Echo team on the Caribbean island of Bonaire that might be perfect for you. In this position you will help Echo develop and manage its habitat restoration area of 3.5 hectares and be involved in habitat conservation from seed collecting to replanting. Through trail development at the centre, you will also help improve opportunities for our non-profit and local guides to provide nature tours for education and best practice eco-tourism. Applicants must be highly motivated, punctual, physically and mentally fit and confident to walk and navigate alone in the forest. You should also be prepared to live in field camp conditions (outdoor living, cold showers, a composting toilet and solar power). Duration: A minimum of one month and up to 3 months is possible Financial details: Echo is a small NGO. Volunteers are expected to fund international travel and their food ($50-$70/week) once here.
