Background Information

COTORCO (Comité para la conservación de las tortugas marinas de Corcovado) was found in September 2011 as initiative from Asociación de Desarrollo Integral de Corcovado-Carate (ADI) to work protecting sea turtle species which lay the eggs at Osa Peninsula and as economic solution to the community.
Our mission is to find the way to protect sea turtles at Osa Peninsula working with the community and other institutions.
Our goal is to increase the number of turtles which lay the eggs at Osa Peninsula, decreasing the poaching and predation through environmental education at the community. 
Wework 11km beach in total, divided in 3 different beaches, Rio Oro, Carate y La Leona

Duties

RAs will work in coordination with our biologist; monitoring turtle activity, taking data, tagging and relocation. Implement anti-poaching and predation strategies. Beach patrolling leading volunteer groups. Environmental education activities.

Requirements

. Older than 21 
. English and Spanish 
. Graduated or near graduate in biology, environmental science or similar
. Experience working with sea turtles
. Good physical health
. Motivated, positive and adaptable to unexpected situations
. Able to live and work in remote areas
. Experience working with volunteers
. First aid notions
. Driving license.

Benefits/Costs

Food and accommodation is provided during stay. RAs have to pay their own travel expenses.
