Description

We are looking for a talented, enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Tree Service Team. The role comes with plenty of variety and is a great opportunity to gain a wide range of experience and job satisfaction whilst working in a team of professional arboriculturists. 

The Tree Service is responsible for the management of approximately 80000 urban trees across the borough and a further 500 hectares of woodland.  We provide professional and technical advice to both internal and external customers, such as the council’s Development Control team and work in collaboration with many partners to improve tree cover and the promotion of trees in South Yorkshire.  

As a Tree Officer you will need to have excellent tree knowledge, communication skills, a flexible approach to managing your workload and be capable of working in a variety of locations from council offices, to carrying out tree surveys in woodlands.  You will be responsible for managing a section of the borough’s tree stock; providing detailed and professional responses to enquiries; carrying out health and safety related visual tree inspections; and you will work collaboratively with other members of the Tree Service and the wider Green Spaces team.

From 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2024 employees paid at Band D and above are subject to a temporary pay reduction of 1.15% spread out by means of a weekly / monthly deduction (dependent on pay frequency) from each pay period over the full financial year. In recognition of implementing this temporary measure, those who experience a pay reduction will be awarded of three additional day’s leave (pro rata for part-time).
