The RSPCA, the World’s largest and oldest animal welfare organisation, is looking for a Trainee Inspector to join the team based in Staffordshire.
The main responsibilities of the post include:
Rescuing or collecting animals in immediate or potential risk and boarding them within Society approved accommodation for rehoming or rehabilitation.
Assisting in the investigation of animal cruelty where appropriate. To act or proceed accordingly to prevent suffering and promote good practice and compassion.
The successful applicant should have:
1. 5 GCSE’s - Grade C or above or the equivalent to include English and Maths.
2. A full, current, UK licence to drive a car with a manual gearbox
3. The ability to swim 50 metres fully clothed within 2.5 minutes.
4. A good level of physical fitness.
5. Proven experience of working both as part of a team and independently.
6. Proven interpersonal skills – experience in the successful management of confrontational situations is essential.
7. Experience of working with animals (desirable).
8. Good administrative skills.
9. The flexibility to work unsociable hours including some evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays
The successful applicant will need to reside in the area that this vacancy covers, please include the relevant reference number on your application. The successful applicant will undertake a basic induction period in the field. Then they will be required to attend a course comprising a range of legislative, technical and practical modules ranging between 1 and 8 weeks duration, with a view towards attaining a career as an inspector.
