Technician TEM, SEM and Surface Analysis

We are now inviting applications for the position of TEM, SEM and Surface Analysis Technician in the area of Core Facilities Group, to support the Platform managers of the Electron Microscopy and Surface Analysis Platforms.

The Fundación CIC energigune is one of several CIC centres now operating or at start-up stage that together form the spearhead of basic research in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country in a variety of fields. The Centres enjoy a secured budget appropriate to their mission and a committed environment for promoting basic research oriented.

The research centre operates within the framework of recently approved long-term research plans and will concentrate on basic research with the aim of achieving breakthroughs for electricity storage in battery and electrochemistry systems, with an emphasis on interface phenomena and novel material development.

This individual will perform routine maintenance on equipment and trouble-shoot malfunctions and work with repair specialists to maintain the instrumentation to a high level of performance while controlling costs.

Within your responsabilities, you will have to support to operate the TEM, SEM and X-ray Photoelectron Spectrometer (multi chamber, multi technique Ultra High Vacuum spectrometer from SPECS GmbH), as well as other analytical equipments (for more details regarding equipment please refer to our web-site: http://www.cicenergigune.com/es/).

You will also be responsible for their maintenance as well as development, functioning and methods. This position will also require your participation in research projects.

Qué buscamos

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Technician capable of taking this unique opportunity. Candidate requirements:

•  Ms in science (preferably Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, Electrical Engineering).
•   Experience in Materials Science and Solid State Chemistry and/or Physics.
• Familiar with material characterization techniques (at least one of the following: TEM, SEM/EDX, XPS, FTIR, Raman, AFM and similar).
• Familiar with high vacuum and ultra high vacuum equipment
• Experience in equipment, PC and software operation.
• Ability to analyse and solve problems associated with research outputs.
• Self-motivated with willingness to work effectively within a multinational and multi-disciplinary team.
• Flexibility in work schedule is a plus.
