The New Forest National Park Authority is responsible for conserving and enhancing the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage of the New Forest and for promoting opportunities for the understanding and enjoyment of its special qualities by the public.

37 hours per week
Fixed-term contract to 31 March 2015

We are looking for a Sustainable Transport Officer to drive forward the delivery of the New Forest elements of the 'Two National Parks' LSTF Programme.

This is a diverse and exciting role, helping to deliver large scale travel behaviour change through innovative sustainable transport projects and marketing campaigns.

A traditional approach will not work.  We are looking for a talented individual with a flexible 'can do' attitude and the enthusiasm to break new ground in the field of sustainable transport.  You will be highly motivated and enthusiastic, and have a passion for national parks, sustainable travel and tourism.

Working with and through tourism businesses, transport operators, and partners, you will lead on the delivery of a range of initiatives, including:

• a network of community routes for walkers, horse-riders and cyclists
• working with visitor attractions to develop inspirational yet deliverable travel plans
• development of the New Forest Travel Concierge service
• and operational elements of the New Forest Tour - the flagship visitor transport experience in the New Forest National Park.

You will have experience of working in the field of sustainable transport and/or tourism, and a particular passion for sustainability.  As an excellent communicator, you will have a natural ability to sell the benefits of travel behaviour change to a variety of audiences, and will be familiar with meeting targets and other deadlines.

This post requires a valid driving licence and is based at the Authority's offices in Lymington, Hampshire.
