SWCA Environmental Consultants is an employee-owned company of environmental professionals who specialize in natural and cultural resource management, environmental planning, and regulatory compliance.

We are seeking a Sr. Project Manager for our natural resources program in our Half Moon Bay office. This is a regular, full-time salaried position. The ideal candidate will manage and support natural resource and planning projects in California and potentially the surrounding region. The selected candidate will assist in the continuing development of SWCA’s California business and expand SWCA’s professional reputation in planning and biological consulting. Salary will be based on individual qualifications and experience.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects and milestones within schedule and budget expectations;Manage the financial performance of individual projects and effectively coordinate with clients;
  • Oversee and perform all aspects of field research, data collection, and analysis;
  • Supervise and instruct subcontractors, technical staff and field personnel;
  • Prepare reports related to National Environmental Policy Act, Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act, technical documents, proposals and other written deliverables related to various permitting/planning and compliance projects as required;
  • Maintain a collaborative work environment and positive morale between SWCA staff, subcontractors, and clients;
  • Take initiative, resolve problems, and create improved procedures to assure tasks are completed in the most effective manner, and;Assist with the Pacific West region’s development goals and objectives.

Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in biology, natural resource management, or other related field;At least five (5) years of experience in project work related to environmental consulting services;
  • Demonstrated experience in increasing levels of responsibility, including supervising and providing leadership for other professionals;
  • Demonstrated business development success and consulting acumen, including established credibility with federal and state reviewing agencies and clients, as well as success in proposal writing;
  • Expert knowledge of applicable federal and California state resource management laws;
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and with technical writing, and;
  • Ability to foster a friendly, positive, productive, and scholarly working relationship with team members while promoting a culture of teamwork, engagement, quality service, and customer satisfaction.
