Description

Are you interested in Solar Energy, and would you like to learn how to install Solar Panels and at the same time do something great for a small rural community in Costa Rica? Then the ‘Solar Panel’ Workshop is exactly what you are looking for!

The goal of the ‘Solar Panel’ Workshop is to provide?renewable electric power in rural communities in Osa Peninsula, where it would otherwise be absent. This reduces overall carbon emissions by offering solar as a viable alternative to running a generator or burning tires, or simply having to pay high electrical bills. The workshop provides the materials and solar panels, and install them free of charge for the community.

An ideal volunteer on this project has a passion for environmental conservation, renewable energy, and helping communities.??You will be spending time with local Costa Ricans – who may not speak English that well – but the coordinator and the teacher on site speak English. You as a participant will gain an understanding of the basic engineering principles of photovoltaic power; learn how Solar panels are installed and maintained, help assemble all the Solar Panel parts, help install Solar Panels, educate the community and of course, participate in the Solar Panel Workshop.

The Solar Panel Workshop starts on the 18th of June and will last till the 1st of July. It is a two week course, with some days off for activities. There is a require minimum age of 18 years or older. It is located in Puerto Jimenez in the Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica. One of the most beautiful places in Costa Rica. This is the perfect way to be involved in the Costa Rican culture, learning new skills and gaining invaluable experiences.
