Description

Are you interested in solar Energy? Would you like to learn how to install Solar Panels and at the same time do something great for a small rural community in Costa Rica? Then this project is great for you. The goal of this project is to provide renewable electric power in rural communities in Costa Rica, where it would otherwise be absent. This reduces overall carbon emissions by offering solar as a viable alternative to running a generator or burning tires, or simply having to pay high electrical bills (especially for public buildings who are non-profit this is a very important financial factor). The project provides the materials and solar panels, and install them free of charge for the community.

You as a volunteer / participant / student will gain an understanding of the basic engineering principles of photovoltaic power – The resulting panels are then put to work, making power in the local community. You’ll also help to educate the community about renewable energies.

Volunteer’s Responsibilities Include:

  • Help install Solar Panels
  • Participate in the Solar Panel course
  • Learn how Solar Panels are installed and maintained
  • Help assemble all the Solar Panel parts
  • Educate the community
