The Big Lunch is an idea from the Eden Project that simply asks to get as many of the 61 million people as possible to have lunch with their neighbours on one day. Over a million people have participated since the campaign launched in 2009 and The Big Lunch 2011 will take place on Sunday 5th June.
Looking to build on the success of The Big Lunch in the past 2 years, we are recruiting for someone to increase participation in The Big Lunch 2011 in Scotland on a six month fixed term contract. Working closely with the Cornwall based Big Lunch Project Manager and London based Marketing and Engagement Coordinator: England & Wales, you will develop relationships with Scottish Central and Local Government and Housing Associations and build on key strategic relationships with Scottish NGO’s and bodies to promote The Big Lunch to the wider public and ensure that the event grows in the regions in 2011. Knowledge of the demographics of Scotland is essential and experience in a Supporter Marketing role in a community field would be an advantage. As a key point of contact for regional enquiries the post will involve dealing with general public enquiries from Scotland and assisting The Big Lunch’s PR team at events and in compiling case histories of interesting, individual Big Lunches for the media. Working with The Big Lunch team you will help to tailor promotional materials to a Scottish audience and will be required to deliver workshops to promote The Big Lunch and encourage participation in the initiative. The role will be based in a partner organisation’s offices in Glasgow and will be responsible for all general administration tasks of the Scottish Big Lunch office, including managing voluntary interns. Travel within Scotland and to London and Cornwall will be required.
