The Big Lunch is an idea from Eden Project that simply asks to get as many of the 61 million people as possible to sit down and have lunch with their neighbours on one day. Over a million people have participated since the campaign launched in 2009 and The Big Lunch 2011 will take place on Sunday 5th June.

Looking to build on the success of The Big Lunch in the past 2 years, we are recruiting for someone to increase participation in The Big Lunch 2011 in Northern Ireland on a fixed term six month contract. Working closely with the Cornwall based Big Lunch Project Manager and London based Marketing and Engagement Coordinator: England & Wales, they will develop relationships with NI Central and Local Government and Housing Associations and build on key strategic relationships with Northern Irish NGO’s and bodies to promote The Big Lunch to the wider public and ensure that the event grows in the regions in 2011. Knowledge of the demographics of Northern Ireland is essential and experience in a Supporter Marketing role in a community field would be an advantage.
As a key point of contact for regional enquiries the post will involve dealing with general public enquiries from Northern Ireland and assisting The Big Lunch’s PR team at events and in compiling case histories of interesting, individual Big Lunches for the media. Working with The Big Lunch team they will help to tailor promotional materials to a Northern Irish audience and will be required to deliver workshops to promote The Big Lunch and encourage participation in the initiative. The role will be based in a partner organisation’s offices in Belfast and will be responsible for all general administration tasks of the Northern Irish Big Lunch office, including managing voluntary interns. Travel within Northern Ireland and to London and Cornwall will be required.
