The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is a global non-profit environmental organization with more than 1.2 million members and online activists. Environmental Entrepreneurs (E2) is a national community of business people who believe in protecting the environment while building economic prosperity. Working with NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council), E2 serves as a champion on the economic side of good environmental policy by taking a reasoned, economically sound approach to environmental issues. Position:Environmental Entrepreneurs is looking for a part-time or full-time intern for our national Climate Campaign. The Campaign is focused on building business support for effective national climate and energy legislation. 2009 is a key year for national climate legislation. This position will put you at the center of the discussions in the business community on national climate and energy legislation. You will be working in a very dynamic environment. We are seeking candidates that have a very flexible attitude and understand what needs to be done to keep a campaign moving forward. The Climate Campaign Coordinator will support the Campaign Director administratively and with outreach tasks. We are looking for at least a 6 month commitment. A one-year commitment would be ideal. This position is located in the San Francisco office. We are looking to fill this position immediately. Duties: Campaign work is constant and fast-moving. There are many balls in the air at the same time that need to be managed efficiently. The intern will support the Campaign Director with scheduling, phone calls, emails, drafting campaign documents, managing the business network, managing the listserve, and with external and internal communications. Qualifications: We are seeking eager and flexible individuals (students or people in a career transition) who care about global warming and want to contribute to getting national legislation passed in 2009. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills are necessary. Must be able to work independently. This position will require attention to detail and the ability to manage several tasks at once. Initiative and excellent follow-up skills required. Knowledge of climate change and energy issues a plus. Compensation: A modest monthly stipend will be offered. We may also be able to offer course credit if your program supports this kind of internship. Interns will additionally have opportunities for interaction with other parts of the organization including networking opportunities inside and outside of NRDC. |
