Job title: Senior/Principal Ecologist

Job Summary:

An opportunity exists to join my client’s ecology team in Cambridge.  As a leading global multidisciplinary practice the opportunity provides an exciting chance for an ambitious Ecologist who is looking to join an established, successful and ambitious workforce.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

Due to an increasing order book, you will be providing invaluable support to the current team leader undertaking project management, organising resources and leading on the provision of ecological technical input for a wide range of projects within both public and private sectors.

Current project work includes survey, protected species assessments, habitat management plans, mitigation, site restoration and rehabilitation measures, specialist services for planning applications and for environmental impact assessment. 

As a senior team member you will play a key role in the mentioning and development of junior team members and will also assist with the winning of new business.

Qualifications / Experience:

The senior/principal ecologist will have;

  • A degree in a relevant discipline and preferably an MSc;
  • Full IEEM Membership;
  • Demonstrable experience of undertaking a senior role within consultancy;
  • Experience of managing large ecology projects, sub contractors and staff;
  • Good commercial acumen with the ability to identify and expand new areas of business for the ecology team.

Candidates should have an extensive portfolio of technical experience including;

  • Phase 1 habitat survey and protected species survey;
  • Botanical skills, Habitats Regulations Assessment and Ecological Impact Assessment;
  • Survey licence for one or more protected species;
  • Protected species development licence applications;
  • Ecological mitigation schemes, including large projects.
