Description |
The RSPCA is looking to recruit a senior scientific officer to protect and improve the welfare of equines.
Responsibilities to include: - maintaining the Society's companion animal welfare science knowledge database
- providing scientific/technical input to specific policies, reports and campaigns
- promoting companion animal welfare to various working groups, industry bodies and Government
- initiating and developing projects on issues relating to equine welfare
- representing the Society to government, industry and in the media.
Skills and experience include: - BSc Biological or Life Science degree and Higher Welfare Science Degree (veterinary qualification desirable)
- knowledge of equine welfare and behaviour
- practical experience working with equines (experience with both leisure and competitive equines would be advantageous)
- excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate scientific information to a range of audience
- competent user of Word, Powerpoint and Excel.
Some travel in the UK and abroad including overnight stays is required in this role. Promoting kindness and preventing cruelty to animals.
