Job title: Senior / Principal Ecologist

Rate: £28,000k+ DOE

Job Summary:

 

We are working with an independent environmental planning and design consultancy to appoint a senior /principal consultant ecologist into their Gloucestershire based team.  As a key member of the ecology team you will have exposure to the full scope of ecological works from tender stage through to surveying and project delivery.  As part of our client’s multidisciplined service offering you will work closely with specialists in landscape, archaeology and arboriculture to offer advice to landowners, property and energy sector clients.

 

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

The senior/principal ecologist will lead and manage projects, acting as the main contact for client queries.  You will also be encouraged to maintain a presence in the field, contributing to surveys and the interpretation of survey results. More junior members of the ecology team will look to you for mentorship and support and you will develop your leadership skills overtime in order to formally manage junior team members.  You will also offer support to the senior ecology management team to shape the future direction of the ecology business.

 

Qualifications / Experience:

The senior/principal ecologist will have;

  • A relevant degree
  • Proven ecological consultancy experience, including a good track record of effective project management and client care
  • Experience of working within a multidisciplinary consultancy on complex residential and renewables projects would be beneficial for this role
  • At least one EPS licence and experience of working with EPD development licences.
