MCS is seeking a self-motivated individual who has experience in parliamentary work and a keen interest in politics who will be able to develop effective and significant relationships with parliamentarians and Government representatives on marine policy and legislation.

You will be responsible for developing and implementing our parliamentary plans which support the delivery of the MCS Conservation Strategy, and as an engaging and influential communicator, will lead on promoting our conservation messages to parliamentarians.

Our teams at MCS are passionate and dedicated, and you will work closely with them by supporting the development of our policies to Government, industry and user groups - responding to consultations and representing us on national and international forums in partnership with other NGOs, government bodies and stakeholder user groups.

Key Skills

  • Demonstrable evidence in influencing Government or party positions
  • Able to present complex information to political audiences in both written and verbal briefings
  • Advanced understanding of the Westminster Parliamentary policy development process, and a clear understanding of how to create change
  • Highly motivated, able to work with self-direction and also ensure team requirements are met
