About The Role

Are you a marine consultant with a background in benthic ecology? Do you have experience conducting ecological assessments such as EIA or HRA? Maybe you’re looking for an opportunity to develop your technical and consultancy skills across a variety of projects while building excellent project management skills?

APEM are looking for a Senior Marine Consultant with a focus on benthic ecology to join our marine consultancy team, working on projects including marine & coastal infrastructure, power (including offshore renewables), water industry and public sector.

In this role, you will be involved with all aspects of project delivery, from survey design and stakeholder/client engagement to data analysis and interpretation. You will author and coordinate delivery for a range of ecological assessments, including EIA, HRA, MCZ, WFD and scoping reports, working with consultants across various teams at APEM to provide excellent service to clients. You will also develop your project management skills across technical, financial and client relationship aspects, preparing you to project manage a variety of marine projects delivered to a diverse client base.

You can choose to work remotely, or at one of our UK offices under a hybrid model if this is preferred.

About you

You will have a degree (preferably MSc or PhD) in marine ecology or a related discipline, as well as experience with writing ecological assessments (e.g. scoping reports, EIA, HRA reports, WFD assessments, MCZ assessments, Biosecurity Plans). An understanding of relevant policy/legislation is also required. You will have excellent communication and reporting skills, with experience in tendering and marine ecological data analysis and interpretation. Previous experience in designing and managing field surveys, would be beneficial, as well as a detailed understanding of benthic habitat mapping outputs. Knowledge of the requirements for, and preparation of, marine licence applications would also be beneficial for this role.
