Senior Environmental Planner Job Summary:

Our client is a well established and highly respected consultancy with a history of delivering innovative environmental planning solutions.  As Senior Environmental Planner, you will have the opportunity to deliver Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA’s) for projects across a range of sectors, such as renewable energy developments, electricity transmission infrastructure, transport, minerals, waste and water.

This is a key appointment for our client’s Planning team and offers the opportunity for an experienced environmental planner with sound project and delivery experience to have a significant influence on the development of EIA’s.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

As a Senior Environmental Planner (EIA) you will:

  • Develop new business, attend tender interviews and prepare submissions when requested, in conjunction with a Principal
  • Assist in the preparation and implementation of the relevant work sector business plan as appropriate.
  • Provide expert technical and professional, experiential advice
  • Perform appraisals, provide support and guidance and be the point of call for other staff members, to then be reported to a Principal
  • Perform Project management duties when required

Project Manager Duties:

  • To achieve chargeable work targets
  • To act as Project Manager on contracts of medium/large size and complexity, reporting directly to the nominated Principal-in-Charge
  • To take responsibility for running projects to agreed budgets and timescales
  • To provide strategic inputs on project work and detailed input where necessary, delegating as appropriate to Consultants and overseeing their progress.
  • To strengthen links with clients and other work sectors within the company.

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Degree or Post Graduate qualification in a relevant discipline, preferably with advanced qualification in Environmental Impact Assessments.
  • Proven experience of project managing and co-ordinating EIAs which may include wind energy experience
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage tasks and time, using initiative.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to build effective relationships with colleagues and clients
  • Full or working towards membership of IEMA
