Job Summary:

 

Following their continued growth and team success, this leading consultancy is looking to expand their team to support the delivery of a variety of projects in the Rivers and Coastal sector, by appointing a Senior Ecologist to their Bristol or Basingstoke team.

 

This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of the expansion process and add value to the delivery of the company’s professional service. The role itself requires a confident, client facing consultant who can undertake a range of ecology surveys, and provide a critical approach to mitigation advice, whilst contributing to the development of the business.

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

As a Senior Ecologist you will:

  • Take responsibility for delivering successful bids to small / medium projects tendered under the WEM framework
  • Take responsibility for project managing projects successfully for an Environment Consultancy and other clients across England and Wales
  • Provide environmental and ecological surveys and reports, ecological advice, environmental assessments (including WFD, FDC, EIA and HRA), and assisting in the day to day management of team activities
  • Take and enthusiastic and balanced approach towards environmental risk management, benefitting both the needs of the client and the environment

 

Qualifications:

 

As a Senior Ecologist you will have:

  • Master’s Degree in relevant field
  • Knowledge and working practice of Project Management practices, including PRINCE 2 techniques
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of bidding and job winning processes
  • Chartered Member of CIEEM or CIWE
  • Proven experience in habitat surveys and protected species surveys
  • Extensive experience in the provision of environmental / ecological advice in the consultancy sector
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of environmental and ecological legislation
  • Good understanding of EIA process and legislation
  • Clean driving licence
  • Intertidal / coastal ecological survey experience
  • EPS licence for at least one species
  • A track record of winning work and providing technical input to tenders
  • Experience with GIS packages
