We are helping our multi-disciplined consultancy client to find an experienced and ambitious Ecologist to join their successful and expanding UK wide ecological team.  You will enter the team at senior level and work to deliver project work to clients in a range of sectors including residential, commercial, energy and mineral developments.

As a valuable member of the West Bromwich environmental team you will have the opportunity to play an influential role in the future development and growth of the regional office.

Responsibilities:

As the Senior Ecologist you will;

  • Undertake field surveys/ecological assessment and reports
  • Provide technical input and support to internal offices and clients
  • Manage ecological projects to ensure delivery on time and within budget
  • Prepare fee proposals and assist in the development of new business areas.

Qualifications / Experience:

The successful candidate will;

  • Be qualified to degree level or equivalent in ecology or a related discipline
  • Hold an EPS licence (Bats preferred)
  • Associate or full membership of IEEM
  • Demonstrate a sound amount of relevant experience within ecological consultancy
  • Have an understanding of ecological field investigations and a broad knowledge of all protected species issues associated with development led projects
  • Experience of BREEAM, Ecological Impact Assessment and Habitat Regulations Assessment
  • Have experience of managing projects to completion
  • Be self-motivated with strong communication skills, with the ability to work alone and as part of a wider multi-disciplined team

Initially, you will be the sole Ecologist within the West Bromwich office During your first few months in post you will receive local support from the Regional Director and technical support from the wider ecological team, whilst undertaking field surveys and assessments. 

The ‘flat structure’ of the role offers excellent future career development prospects within a successful and expanding team. Our client is looking for a hands-on technical ecologist with established consultancy experience who aspires to manage their own team and win their own project work in the future.
