Job Summary:
We are looking for someone that shares the passion, enthusiasm and attention to detail that we apply to all our project work, at home or abroad. The right candidate can expect to be given a wide range of roles and responsibilities.
Assigned tasks may vary from field survey to detailed desk-based research, analysis and reporting, project management and client liaison. We regularly undertake overseas projects, particularly in Southeast Asia, and a willingness to travel on occasion and to apply core ecological assessment and design principles to ecosystems in other countries would be advantageous.
Qualifications / Experience
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Project manage small to medium size projects in the UK
- Undertake Extended Phase 1 Habitat Surveys
- Scope and cost Phase 2 ecological surveys in the UK
- Undertake Phase 2 ecological surveys (depending on skills/specialism) and commission and manage sub-consultant surveyors as required (UK and overseas)
- Provide technical support to other staff, in relation to ecological impact assessment, habitat management planning, habitat creation as required, including to our work abroad
KEY SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Competent in Extended Phase 1 Habitat Survey with a good working knowledge of UK flora
- Sound field skills covering a range of UK fauna, with protected species licences advantageous
- A good working understanding of relevant UK and EU legislation and planning policy
- Experience of undertaking Ecological Impact Assessment and of Habitats Regulations Assessments
- Full member of CIEEM
- High level of computer literacy, in particular with word processing and spreadsheets
- Knowledge of/interest in other ecological specialisms including land management, urban ecology, habitat creation, ecosystems abroad and ecosystem services would all be advantageous.
