Job title: Senior Ecologist / Team Leader

Location: West Midlands and London

 Rate: Competitive DOE

Job Summary:

A well-established planning consultancy is looking to expand its national presence through the appointment of senior ecologists into both its London and Birmingham offices. Working alongside landscape planners, the newly appointed ecologists will play key roles in the future growth and direction of the London and Birmingham teams.

You will have the opportunity to work on development led projects ranging from barn conversions to complex urban extensions, industrial and residential developments. To be successful in post you should have adequate consultancy experience to allow you to work autonomously and have the drive and passion to lead and grow a new team of ecologists. 

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

The Senior Ecologists will;

  • Undertake and manage ecological impact assessment work in a range of sectors
  • Carryout surveys
  • Liaise with existing clients
  • Undertake business development activities to develop your own client base
  • Manage and mentor ecology team members as you grow your own team around you

 

Qualifications / Experience:

To be successful in the post, the senior ecologists should have;

  • Demonstrable ecological consultancy experience to include management and mentorship of junior team members
  • Excellent academic qualifications in ecology or biological sciences
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Excellent survey skills to include extended Phase I and protected species work
  • Strong understanding of legislative and planning policy framework in relation to ecology and conservation
  • Strong business acumen with experience of liaising with clients and statutory bodies.
