Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Ecologist with particular expertise in Bat ecology, to join a leading ecological consultancy.    If you hold a Natural England bat survey licence and have had experience of working under and preparing EPS development licences, then we’d like to hear from you.  You will play a key role in the delivery of my Client’s bat work within the South East, but will also have the opportunity to take ownership of all other areas of work including Habitat and Vegetation surveys, Protected species surveys, EcIA and ECoW.

Responsibilities of the post:

As a Senior ecologist you will undertake bat surveys and assessments in addition to other protected species surveys and assessments, ECoW and Watching Brief roles.  You will have the opportunity to get involved in all stages of project development from tendering through to completion and gain exposure to business development, project management and delivery.

Qualifications / Experience:

As a Bat Ecologist, you will possess:

  • An appropriate degree(s)
  • Natural England bat survey licence, ideally including handling of bats.  Excellent candidates who are close to obtaining a bat licence may also be considered
  • Experience in the survey of at least one additional species;  great crested newts, badgers, reptiles, dormice, water voles, birds
  • Experience of writing EPSM licences for Bats and at least one other species
  • Experience of producing ecology chapters as part of EcIA and undertaking site supervision
  • Competency in Phase 1 Habitat Survey of a range of habitats
  • Full IEEM Membership desirable
  • Full clean driving licence.
