Senior Advisor, Working with Corporates
• Location: Cambridge, UK • Part time: 17.5 hours per week, with flexibility • Duration: One-year fixed-term contract, with the possibility of extending BirdLife International is the world’s largest nature conservation partnership. Through our unique local-to-global approach, we deliver high impact and long-term conservation for the benefit of nature and people. We are looking for someone to advance our ‘working with corporates’ conservation programme. This person will act as advisor to the programme managers for existing partnerships with Rio Tinto, CEMEX and HeidelbergCement, as well as developing new global business and biodiversity relationships, and supporting other members of the BirdLife Partnership in building and maintaining similar relationships with the private sector. This person will work to develop new relationships with corporates of strategic value to BirdLife; oversee and advise on the management of the respective Programme Managers for the established strategic partnerships with corporate partners; and work with the Secretariat to develop and implement a strategy for wider engagement with the corporate sector, using the Working with Corporates guidance as a key reference. The ideal candidate will have: • A degree in a relevant environmental subject • An interest in birds and bird conservation • An understanding of the business case and drivers for conservation of biodiversity • Proven track record of working in an environmental or conservation field • Multi-project management skills • Experience of proposal development, partnership brokering and budget management • Ability to communicate and influence effectively • Experience of working with the corporate sector, and cross-sector working A detailed job description can be found at www.birdlife.org/jobs. We are seeking someone to work 2.5 days per week for a minimum of 1 year, but are willing to consider alternative working patterns if the right candidate is available. We are ideally looking to employ someone who will play a fully integrated role within the Conservation team, but might consider applications to carry out the deliverables on a consultancy basis (please make this clear in your application).
