Description

Can you help us deliver our Schools on Reserves education programme to visiting schools? Can you communicate your passion for nature to children and their teachers? Volunteer for the largest environmental organisation in Europe and help kick-start a career in environmental education.

Following a period of training and shadowing our Learning Officer, we'd ask you to take the lead in delivering hands-on, exciting sessions to schoolchildren and their teachers on our nature reserve. Typical activities include minibeast hunting, pond dipping and bird watching.

You're welcome to attend a 'taster' day to see if this opportunity is for you (warning! It's masses of fun and you'll be hooked!)

What's in it for you:

Boost your skills and develop new ones to kick-start a career in environmental or community education. Expand your CV by volunteering with a well-known charity - we'll provide a reference. Volunteering with us can fit around family life as the commitment is flexible and term-time only.

We need:

  • Abundant enthusiasm and a natural ability to communicate your passion for nature to children

  • A resourceful, flexible and creative approach to working with a wide variety of ages and abilities

  • The confidence to lead a fun and active day's education programme with a group of students and their teacher

  • To enjoy working outdoors, both in a team and on your own

  • Experience of working with children is a distinct advantage
