Description

Why we want you:

We’re looking for volunteers to help lead our new and developing running club!

Our new running club needs you – the Rainham Harriers running club meets every Sunday at 09:30 with distances ranging from 3km up to however far your legs can take you, and we would like some help.

The club is a great opportunity to run in a lovely off road, nature rich setting – improving your fitness, enjoying the views and accompanied by bird song. We would love the group to grow and develop – discovering new routes and covering different distances each week, and this is where you come in. An extra leader would help us make this happen.

If you are happy helping a group of runners, and chatting to people then this is the right role for you! You could help us identify new places to explore too if you wanted...

The running club is part of our exciting new project called Active in Nature. The RSPB is partnering with Sport England to encourage people to experience nature in new and active ways.

At RSPB Rainham Marshes we’re offering a suite of outdoor activities for visitors to get involved in; bouldering, cycling, orienteering, yoga, running, Nordic walking and a whole host of different events.

What's in it for you:

An amazing location, great places to run and some great people too!

An excellent opportunity to gain experience in leading a running session. Don’t worry you will get the chance to work with the other leaders, and we’ll show you the routes until you feel comfortable leading!

There would also be an opportunity to gain your Leadership in Running Fitness license. It is also a fantastic chance to meet new likeminded friendly people who are all keen to improve their running and enjoy a Sunday morning jog in a beautiful environment.

You’ll get to meet lots of amazing people from fellow volunteers, staff and reserve visitors, and helping us keep Rainham Marshes a special place.

Notes:

If you like talking to people, like to run distances of at least 5km and helping other runners this is the role for you!

We’d reimburse you for any out of pocket travel expenses and ensure you’re supported fully in your role.

Our club runs on Sunday mornings from 09.30 – 11.00 am, it would be great if you could help with one session a month or more!
