Help improve and protect Scotland’s water environment

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) has responsibilities for protecting and improving Scotland's unique and beautiful environment.

This is your chance to be part of a unique Life+ biodiversity project (EcoCo LIFE+) focusing on the implementation of integrated habitat networks to improve ecological coherence across the Central Scotland Green Network (CSGN).

SEPA’s role in this SNH-led project is to host a part-time project officer from March 2015 until August 2018 who will work within the Glazert Water catchment near Glasgow. Your role will be to secure the implementation of restoration projects, enabling this catchment to achieve river basin planning and flood risk management planning objectives whilst delivering an ecological coherent habitat network.

Qualified to at least degree level in environmental science or equivalent, you will bring detailed knowledge and experience of one or more of the following: stakeholder engagement, particularly engagement of landowners and land managers; farming, specifically how restoration measures might fit with farming practices and funding streams e.g. Single Farm Payment and SRDP; natural flood management; hydromorphology; river restoration; and diffuse pollution.

You will also have excellent communication skills that will be used to facilitate the uptake of restoration projects and excellent project planning and time management skills. Familiar with relevant legislation, you will have experience of working with partners, including landowners, to support river restoration, natural flood management or habitat enhancement schemes.

Bring your expert skills and experience to our team, and help us create a sustainable legacy for future generations.

Join SEPA’s diverse workforce operating across 26 regional offices in Scotland and you will benefit from competitive salaries, flexible working arrangements, the opportunity to join our pension scheme, and many other excellent benefits.

Closing Date:  Tuesday 20th January 2015, Noon.
