The Resource and Recycling Team at the London Borough of Hounslow is looking for a highly motivated individual to develop, implement and monitor the council’s policies and projects for waste and recycling.

The Resource and Recycling Team is dedicated to commissioning waste and recycling services to meet the needs of the borough both now and in the future, developing initiatives to help our residents reduce their waste and increase recycling, as well as running educational campaigns to promote recycling, reuse and waste minimisation initiatives.

You will need to have a keen interest in recycling and the environment, experience of working in the resource and recycling industry, sound knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, good project management and communication skills and the ability to work in partnership to develop and implement our strategies, policies and programmes in a timely manner.

As the Resource and Recycling Manager you will develop and actively promote the Borough’s strategic and corporate programmes for waste reduction, reuse, recycling and composting to minimise the overall cost of waste disposal. You will lead the waste and recycling commissioning team to introduce new services and projects, update policies and develop the borough’s revised waste strategy

You will be responsible for managing a core team of four officers plus temporary staff to support ongoing project work. You will also be responsible for the management of Space Waye Reuse and Recycling Centre, the council’s Household Waste and Recycling Centre.
