Description |
This is an opportunity to gain experience working with a small team of young, adventurous conservationists in an amazing location. You will be living and working at the site of our new mainland hatchery project, based at a highly prestigious, exclusive resort on the east coast mainland of Peninsular Malaysia.
Your Role Days will be focused around gathering data from turtle nests, emailing results to resort guests who join our adoption programme, assisting in the relocation and tagging of turtle mothers (at night) and delivering awareness talks to resort guests. Applicants should be qualified - or be in the process of qualification - in the field of natural sciences/conservation.
We are looking for someone who is extrovert and welcoming to all people, as you will be interacting with resort guests, engaging them in the project and educating them about the biology, ecology and conservation of turtles and that of the wider environment on a daily basis.
Accommodation You will be given a room within the staff quarters of the prestigious Tanjong Jara Resort. This room may be shared with other interns and Lang Tengah Turtle Watch staff on occasion (same gender). You will have a kitchenette equipped with a stove for cooking basic meals and food enough for 3-meals-a-day provided. We will also cover all in-country travel costs of getting to, and from, the project site. We are looking to recruit at least 2 Research Assistant Interns throughout the 2016 turtle nesting season (May -October). We are preferably looking for interns who can stay for the entire duration of the season, but prospective applicants looking to stay for 2 months, or longer, are encouraged to apply. The successful applicants will also have the opportunity to spend time at our current island-based project. You can find our more about this - and our organisation - by visiting the links below. To apply, please look at our website, Facebook page, and then directly contact our coordinator, Raphe van Zevenbergen, with your C.V. and Covering Letter:
