We cooperate closely with our colleagues across the organisation and participate in all project phases.

As Quality Control Inspector you will be based at our site office on the quay side in Belfast, where the wind turbine components will arrive from various manufacturing locations to be prepared for installation offshore.

This is a project based role that will be based initially in Belfast for approximately six months.  It is expected that after six months you will move to another of our projects which could be in either the UK, Germany or Denmark.

Areas of responsibility

You will be responsible for the quality control of wind turbine components to be installed at the West of Duddon Sands Offshore Wind farm in the Irish Sea.

Furthermore, your key duties will include:

  • monitor wind turbine components arrive on site
  • ensure that assembly works progress as planned and report any issues to the WTG Commissioning Manager
  • participate in visual inspections together with the wind turbine suppliers personnel (for example, the wind turbine manufacturer’s quality control inspector) to ensure that all assembly works are completed and quality issues are detected
  • ensure issues are reported and remedied before installation vessel load out
  • provide daily updates and reports on the findings of the quality control inspections, identify any issues and track progress of on-going issues.

Your profile

You will have a degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Marine Engineering or you will have an equivalent technical background.

You will have prior experience working in a quality control inspector role within a relevant industry or previous experience as a wind turbine technician with some quality control experience.

Furthermore, you will have substantial experience of conducting visual based quality control inspections and experience of quality control for electrical installations.  In addition, you will have experience of providing reports on quality control inspection findings and progress.  Ideally, you will have prior experience working with wind turbine technology and components, particularly in a safety role.  Additionally, it will be an advantage if you are familiar with wind turbine components

You will have knowledge of IT, including the Microsoft Office programs, for reporting from quality activities and non-conformity processing.  You will demonstrate good report writing skills and excellent communication skills and you will further demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.  In addition, you will be highly observant and perceptive to quality issues and you will be persistent and driven to ensure issues are resolved.
